Rules of the SSBB Domain « Thread Started on Apr 20, 2008, 6:03am »
1. Be civil and, somewhat, kind to all Domain Members. We won't always agree, just make sure debates stay on topic and refrain from insulting one another
2. Do Not Spam or post off-topic posts where it doesn't belong. Make sure your posts has some input/depth to it on the topic, and allows for a reply. a post with only "lol", or "alright." <--- is spam.
3. Creating a topic, make sure to explain as much in detail for what your topic is about, and what kind of discussions could come from the topic. Do Not create a poll thread, and simply post "please choose one." in your thread opening post.
4. Do Not double post. Use the Modify function in your post, ONLY if you want to add to your post or the topic that noone has replied to yet. There are Sections that do allow exceptions to this, like request a brawl, and graphics.
5. No flaming/flame wars towards another member. I'm very experienced in this dept., so i know what to look out for.
6. Do Not Troll or harass a member from board to board. keep the original debate with other member in the thread it started in.
7. DO NOT ABUSE THE REP SYSTEM. Give credit where credit is due, but don't repeatedly neg rep someone over and over justbecause you don't like the, or agree with them.
8. Respect the MOD team. If a MOD asks something of you, respectfully comply. They're not here to rule with an iron fist, just to make sure the rules are followed, accordingly. They may just be pointing out something you may have simply overlooked.
9. Do Not use elite typing at all, especially to bypass the cesorship. @ss or b!tch in a post is only asking for attention and action to be taken. if the words not censored, it's allowed. If not, then can't you find another adjective that fits in it's place?
10. Do not Post oversized pics or use a seamless line of letters or puncuations without spaces that stretch the screen's width.
Images will be removed, and post will be edited.
11. Do Not post vulgar or explicit url links and images.
12. Signatures. please, make a reasonable sized signature. I'm willing to allow an image at 300 hight maximum. Widths should not exceed 500, so it doesn't stretch the forum's width.
13. Do not Advertise on any Board besides the appropriate section, The Advertisement Board. It's there for a reason. Links will be removed if posted anywhere else. And, do NOT PM advertise members about your forum. You'll get caught, trust me, members will tell me. It's a Perma-Ban automatically, and your forum title and url will be added to the censor words list, no exceptions. I won't tolerate disrespect when i make it as simple as can be for advertising. Even offer myself as a member to your forum, in some cases.

I like 400X300 better. I think any bigger is too big, and we don't want that. Look at Evil's signature. I think he said it was 400X300 and it seems perfect. Must we really exceed that?

the 400 height, of maybe even 500, I'm ok with. the width's limit really isn't important, as long as the image doesn't stretch the screen where i have to scroll to the right to read a post.
I do have a few more rules to add, i just haven't had time to sit and do it without something coming up.

Actually, the width is important. If it's too long, the screen is going to stretch too. We don't want that. I agree it could be pretty flexible, though. Also, 500 height is stretching it a bit. Heck, I think 400 is a bit big, but I could settle for it.

OK, once we decide on a reasonable Sig limit for both height and width ... I can set a limit to all members images in their profile, and put those limits in the Sig option.
No matter the limits ... my Sig ain't goin nowhere

Then if we decide it's too big, you'd be a rule-breaker!
Alright, so first off, what should we decide on the maximum width? Frankly, I think we can exceed 300. So maybe 500 would be good? Then, what's good for height? The problem with height is if it's too big, it's distracting. And if we get enough people with large signatures like that, it's quite annoying. Most of a thread would be composed of pictures.

no, you're not on your own. it's just, our Sigs are the one thing that makes us individual in our post, as far as our profiles go. i want to give members some kind of freedom with that. there are limits to it yes.
and i could possibly downsize mine, or crop out about 1/4 of the bottom of the pic.
Now, i will say this, Mav30's Sig is a little bit bigger than i'd consider the maximum. but it's cool. as long as the member's posts has more to say than their Sig, it'sa ok for now. the joker pic defenitely can be resized, but it's not hurting anything at the moment.
I'll work on my sig's downsizing or cropping, sometime soon.
but, i really fell in love wioth this pic, and didn't even think about resizing it. and when i got it posted here. i just couldn't depart from anything about it.

Agreed, maverick's is bigger than needed. In fact, that's one of the reasons why I even brought it up. His should be downsized or cropped, whichever he'd prefer, no doubt. And it's not really an issue right now, but it will be in the future. When we have lots of members, they might decide to have sigs as big as yours, which would only be a distraction. That's why there are limits. I think Evil's sig height is a little bit big, as is yours, but it's debatable.
I say that your and Evil's sigs are okay for now, but in the future when we have more members, we might want to consider changing the limits a bit, so that every member doesn't have a sig as big as your guys'. I actually think ZU's limits are good, but that's just me. No one's sig is too big there.
